Fire Proof File Cabinets
Fire proof file cabinets have kept many businesses from losing very important paperwork and have also helped individuals from losing deeds, birth certificates, important photographs, and other items when a building or home goes up in flames.
If you have at least one cabinet within your home or business that is not fire proof, it is time to make the investment because you never know when tragedy is going to strike. Fire proof can save.
When Tragedy Strikes
No one who has experienced an incident in which a house or business goes up in flames and ever expected for it to happen to them. One moment everything is there and the next moment everything is gone. It happens quickly and takes a lot of valuable items with it.
Now let's assume that you don't have a fire proof file cabinet within your home, but you do have two that you use to store photos, important documents, and you also keep old computer discs in so that all of your saved files are kept organized.
You go to work one day only to return home and find that an electrical malfunction caused your home to go up in flames, destroying both of your drawer file cabinets and almost everything within them. What was not destroyed inside each cabinet was damaged by the water used to put the flames out.
Now you will have to struggle with getting back on your feet, insurance claims, and also obtaining a new deed to your home, buying new copies of your car titles, getting new copies of birth certificates, and so much more. Replacing official documentation can be difficult and expensive. It is especially harder if the information that is used to identify you so that you can get those documents were destroyed while in the file cabinets.
Now let's assume that you are a business and you do not have fire proof filing cabinets within your business.
You have to keep very detailed files on each of your customers. You also have personnel information in a separate cabinet.
You're at home when you receive a phone call telling you that the business is burning. You find out later that someone broke in and then poured some gasoline and lit a match to cover their tracks. As soon as the structure is done smoldering, you go to find your file cabinets so you can see if you can salvage anything. You find that the high heat was just too much and everything is destroyed, leaving you with no customer records because your computer equipment, which housed the database and contained its backups, is destroyed.
In both of these scenarios, had the file cabinets been fire proof, none of this would have ever happened. Instead of finding file cabinets that were destroyed, the file cabinets would have been intact with everything inside being okay. As an individual, one would not have to pay all of the money it will take to get new copies of everything, thus allowing the recovery process to happen quickly. As a business owner, all of the hard copies would have been saved, giving some sort of guide toward getting things up and running again quickly.
Choosing Cabinets Wisely
When it comes to the fire proof file cabinet, you do want to choose wisely. You want to choose well because you are going to be looking at different types of fire proof file cabinets that add or take away from a room. But what's important is that these cabinets do mean business and their appearance says so, so this means going fire proof is not a bad thing because you are going to save a lot of heartache and work on your end in the way of recovering damaged items.
But although you may be missing the appearance with a fire proof filing cabinet that wood tends to give, wood is not fire proof. Wood will burn rather quickly and everything inside will be destroyed. This can be quite heartbreaking because the documents and items within file cabinets have taken years to accumulate. This means that some of the items do not have replacements. They are one-of-a-kind.
If you do decide that you want to place wood file cabinets in your office, you may want to consider placing the least important items within those and then place the very important items within a fire proof file cabinet. That way, when you have cabinets that serve your particular purposes, you can be more productive while having at least one fire proof file cabinet to keep things safe.
So when you want to protect documents and very important items within your home or business, fire proof file cabinets can help you tremendously. You will not have to worry about losing items that are important and even expensive when you fire proof.
